Am I the only one who's excited to see what's to come this NASCAR season? I can't wait until next Saturday when the Bud Shootout kicks everything off. It's been a pretty quiet off-season for Mr.Kahne so hopefully all of that will help him start off the season with a bang!

It's tough getting older
Well my 28th birthday was this week. Although hubby wasn't home to celebrate it with me since he's working at our county fair, he did send a very nice flower arrangement to work. We're planning on going out sometime next week or weekend to celebrate. I'm so glad I have a husband that likes to do that type of stuff.
This Friday and Saturday, I had a board meeting with my IAAP friends at Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio, for a site visit for our 2009 state conference. They all knew it was my birthday, so at dinner on Friday night, Connie our President, had the waitress bring me out a birthday cake for dessert and they all sang to me. Thank goodness we were the only ones in the restaurant or I would have been mortified! Hubby will be glad too since there was about a 1/4 of the cake left for me to bring home.
As for the title of this post, I've decided that I don't want to turn 30 in two years. My twenties have been really fun and I've accomplished alot.

Whew! What a Trip!
Well, I think I'm finally done traveling for awhile. After two whirlwind trips, one to Las Vegas and one to New Orleans, I think I need to veg for long time.
Vegas was, well....Vegas, and although I ended up losing money, the whole family had a great time. I'll never forget my SIL's eyes as the plane took off headed to Vegas. It was her first time flying, and I think she actually enjoyed it.
New Orleans was awesome! First of all, forget all those images you see on TV. Although some parts of the city are still in disrepair, the downtown is very vibrant and everyone is very friendly and appreciative that you're there. I'll also never forget the distinct smell of Bourbon Street. Actually, I'd really like to forget that. If you've been there, you know exactly what I mean.
I did get a chance to go on a couple of sightseeing trips while in NOLA. The first was to Oak Alley Plantation. It is gorgeous! While there we also spotted Nicholas Cage and his family touring as well. The other tour is a haunted walking tour of the French Quarter. I'd recommend saving your money on that one. All it was was a walking tour on the sidewalks with a few supposedly haunted buildings pointed out. I thought we were actually going to get to go into a few of them, but no such luck.

Vegas Baby!
So, I know it seems like it's been forever since I updated, and for that I apologize in advance. Things have been very hectic around here and I've been in and out of town for the past few weeks. With that said, it now time for me to be off once again, but this time for a real vacation, to Vegas baby!
Once I'm back, I'll try to post some pics. But, once again my hectic life will pick back up in a week or so and I'll be off to New Orleans for a week-long conference. That should be a riot since I'm going with one of my best friends that I don't get to see very often.
Well, peace out for now. Y'all behave yourselves while I'm gone!

Proud to be a Kahne Fan
Okay, let me get this out of the way...first and foremost CONGRATULATIONS KASEY on your Coca-Cola 600 win!!!!!!!
I'll admit, this season has had its ups and downs. Kasey and all the GEM teams had great expectations coming into the season and had gotten a bit deflated but since Kasey's win last week in the all-star race and this week's win their confidence is back and better than ever! It's definitely great seeing that famous Kahne smile beaming once again!!!!!
Earlier this week, I was moping around the house, upset that we weren't going to Charlotte to take part in all of the festivities like GEM fan day, Speed Street and the 600. One of my husband's employees ended up going to the race since his buddy got free tickets because he is in the Army and was one of the 10,000 soldiers on the track for the pre-race ceremonies. My husband was kidding around with him, telling him that he better check the bed of his truck before he left for Charlotte in case I decided to stowaway.
Now I'm really trying to get my husband to agree to go to the October race! Maybe if we win some money in Vegas!!!!

To all the Kahne haters out there...
After Kasey's amazing win on Saturday night, a couple of articles have popped up on Nascar.com stating that the fan vote is a joke and that having the fan vote allowed someone who shouldn't have been in the race in the first place to upstage the winner's of the previous year's races. To these two reporters I say quit whining and be happy for Kasey - the other drivers are.
Kahne made history at the all-star race by becoming the first fan vote winner to go on to win the race and he also gave Dodge their first win ever in the 23 year old event. Kahne and his crew chief, Kenny Francis, won by using what has become the norm with the "Car of Today" - they used strategy to get them ahead.
To the writer, who shall remain nameless - I'll let you readers seek him out, calling the fan vote a joke, I ask - If Junior had to race his way in, placed fifth in the showdown but got in anyway on the fan vote (he is the reigning Most Popular Driver award winner), and went on to win the race, would we even be having this conversation? I doubt it. I also think that if Kasey hadn't won the race, there wouldn't be an issue.
The all-star race was created for the fans.....it just so happened that the fans made a great choice in their voting this year. ;)
Okay, off my soapbox for now...
